The Celtics fell to the Brooklyn Nets last night, losing 104-93. Despite a lackluster performance on offense, Boston’s defense remained solid. Robert Williams anchored that end of the floor.

Williams ended the game with 11 points, nine rebounds, and nine blocks in 22:40 of game time. He shot 5-8 from the field. Five of his nine boards came on the offensive glass. He provided an amazing spark for the C’s on both ends of the floor, his shot-blocking was the story of the night.

The big man set a franchise record for most blocks in a single playoff game. The previous record belonged to Robert Parish and Kendrick Perkins who both blocked eight shots in a game. Williams’ athleticism allows him to get up high above the rim and stay active on the defensive end. He gave Brooklyn fits when they tried to drive to the paint.

The team continues to monitor Williams’ turf toe injury, but Brad Stevens said that the top six players (in terms of minutes) did not practice today, regardless. Game 2 of the series tips off this Tuesday, May 25 at 7:30 p.m. (EST) on TNT.
