The Celtics’ season ended last night with a 123-109 loss vs the Brooklyn Nets. They managed to steal one game but were ultimately defeated 4-1 in their first-round series. Despite the loss, Jayson Tatum was once again able to display his MVP potential.

Tatum scored 32 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and dished out five assists in the loss. He shot 12-27 (44.4%) from the field and 4-11 (36.4%) from deep. Tatum was unable to get to the line as much as in Game 4, shooting only four free throws last night. He made all four of them.

With Kemba Walker, Jaylen Brown, and Robert Williams sidelined, the C’s were down three starters. This put that much more pressure on Tatum. The Nets keyed in on him on the defensive side of the ball, making his life that much tougher. Tatum was simply unable to match the offensive firepower of the Nets’ “big three.”

With the news of Danny Ainge retiring and Brad Stevens taking his place, the Celtics have an interesting offseason ahead of them. With a new head coach inevitable, Stevens’ main priority will be to ensure that the future of Boston basketball remains bright.
