Aaron Nesmith Sets Five Career-Highs, Helps Lead Celtics Past Hornets
The Celtics got revenge on the Hornets last night, grinding out a 120-111 win at home. Although Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown combined for 73 points, it was rookie Aaron Nesmith who stole the show.
Nesmith ended the night with 15 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and three blocks - all career-highs for him. He also set a career-high for minutes, playing just over 31 for the game. Nesmith shot 6-12 from the field and 2-5 from deep.
Despite putting up career-highs in five different categories, Nesmith’s claim to fame in this game his trademark hustle plays. The rookie has been putting his body on the line all season and last night was no different. He was diving for loose balls, embracing contact on defense, and driving into the teeth of the defense on offense. These types of plays are a big reason why he has been garnering so many minutes recently.
This growth in Nesmith’s game could really help the Celtics with playoff depth if he can remain consistent. Boston’s next game is tomorrow night against the San Antonio Spurs. That one tips off at 7:30 p.m. (EST) on NBC Sports Boston.
