The Death of the NBA

Jayson Tatum is ready to murder the entire league.

If you’ve been on Celtics Twitter at all during this quarantine, you know very well that Tatum has not taken a step back - quite the opposite in fact. I don’t want to make this a timeline or anything, but I might as well start from the beginning.

Right around when the NBA season was suspended, there was a H.O.R.S.E. tournament involving NBA stars of past and present. There was a huge uproar for Jayson Tatum to be a part of it, especially because Celtics legend Paul Pierce was. Unfortunately, Tatum said he was unable to participate because he did not have a basketball hoop at his disposal. Celtics Twitter was outraged and demanded Danny Ainge or at least someone get him a hoop. While Tatum did not end up competing in the tournament, he did eventually get a hoop to practice on.

Then there was the workout footage we saw a few weeks ago of Tatum finally getting back in the Celtics training facility. The footage obviously may have been edited, but from what we saw, it did not look like JT was rusty in the slightest. In fact, it looked to me like he was making everything. It was a nice little teaser for Celtics fans to watch while we anxiously wait for the season to return.

We’ve seen lots of videos with Tatum’s son, Deuce, who’s turning into a little star of his own. There’s been viral images of Tatum staring at an image of a goat on an iPad, which makes sense because JT’s on his way to that point. There have been lots of little teasers and images to get everyone in Boston excited for Tatum to step foot on the court again. I even made a little mix of his career highlights to elevate the hype even more. (Available on the Banner Town, USA YouTube - like and subscribe.)

All of that, though, was just leading up to the latest development in the Jayson Tatum saga.

Jayson Tatum now has hair. After two and a half years of seeing Tatum rock the buzz cut/fade look, recent images have surfaced of JT getting his hair gut in this seemingly odd afro shape. I mean, I’ll back any sort of look the 22-year-old phenom chooses to have, but it’s just weird to see him with any other hair at this point. He did mention that he was looking to have it braided, though, and I personally think that “Braids Tatum” would be the death of the NBA. No one would stand a chance, if you really think about it.

I mean, if you want even more proof, just at look what happened when his beard finally connected. Now he has a full head of hair, too? It’s over for every other team in the league.

Braids Iverson? Deadly. Braids Carmelo? Deadly. I can’t even begin to imagine what Braids Tatum would be like on the court. The guy might actually average 50 points in the playoffs. Whatever happens, all I want is JT to take his new look and absolutely take over in the playoffs. I’ll be watching.
