The Celtics Workout Footage of Dreams

I know I’m a little late to the party, but with all the new Celtics workout

footage coming out I just wanted to touch on a few things.

First of all, Jayson Tatum looks as solid as ever. All the footage did was get me even more hyped up for the return of basketball (if it actually ends up happening). I understand it was footage from a workout, but from the looks of it there wasn’t too much editing done between most of the shots; and boy oh boy did he make those shots. I mean, I saw a tweet or something somewhere that said Tatum was making something like 90% of the shots he took. Obviously this is most likely an over exaggeration, but I mean come on. It’s tough not to get over excited about this kind of thing when you’ve been deprived of NBA basketball for months.

We also got some Gordon Hayward film which, while maybe not as exciting as Tatum, was still comforting to see. Knowing that Hayward can still be the reliable Hayward we all know and love makes me feel confident that the team can run smoothly. I don’t have an exact quote, but Adam Taylor (@AdamTaylorNBA) explains it really well when he talks about Hayward being one of, if not the best playmaker on the Celtics. Although we obviously didn’t see any of this playmaking being shown off in a workout session, it was good to see him take some of the shots he gets in real games. The classic pivot turn fadeaway he loves so much looks as crisp as ever.

Then there’s the Tacko film. Oh man oh man the Tacko film. I don’t want to overreact… oh hell you know I have to overreact if that man can start shooting THREES it’s over for the rest of the NBA.

No but for real I think it’s great that Tacko wants to work on all aspects of his game and continuously improve at what he does. Just that drive and hunger to be better alone warrants the Celtics having a little faith in the guy. Let alone the fact that he’s, you know, 7’ 5”. My cohost @ParquetPress and I were doing our podcast the other day (From the Rafters podcast on all platforms) and we had special guest Dante Turo (@DanteOnDeck) on the show. He was talking about this drive and willingness to improve. While we were talking Dante also mentioned that in a few years time, Tacko could be a legitimate option at backup center for Boston. Honestly, I agree. It’s hard to overlook a guy who’s that tall, both metaphorically and physically, so when he also has the drive which Tacko does clearly have, you know you’ve found a unique talent.

I’m just waiting for more footage to come out. I want the Robert Williams monster dunks, the Enes Kanter weird rebound routines, the Jaylen Brown three-point routines - give me it all. You guys best believe as soon as it comes out, I’ll be right here writing about it with my thoughts. Just please, please give me basketball back soon.
