The Celtics got blown out by the Charlotte Hornets last night, losing 125-104. At times it seemed as though the effort just wasn’t there. However, one bright spot of the game was the hustle from Marcus Smart.

His hustle plays have become a staple of Celtics games, and yesterday was no different. Smart finished the game with 17 points and four assists. He shot 5-11 from the field and 3-7 from deep.

The performance was highlighted by an explosion in the third quarter. He scored 12 points and was one of the only players on the Celtics who seemed to care anymore. Boston was down by a lot and the morale seemed low, but Smart is not one to back down from a challenge. Although his end-of-the-quarter play ended up in a Miles Bridges halfcourt heave, it was still a smart play to try.

Smart has been a vocal, and on the court leader for this team for years and that is not going to change anytime soon. Boston will have the chance to get back in the win column when they face off against the Oklahoma City Thunder tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. (EST) on NBC Sports Boston.
