The Food in Disney World

NBA

As teams begin to arrive in Orlando for the NBA restart, we are seeing more and more players document their experiences on social media. Specifically, a lot of players are more or less voicing their opinions on the quality of food they have been served at the Disney hotels.

A big topic has been the food that some NBA players have been served. On one end of the spectrum, you have LeBron James and Kyle Kuzma who posted their meals on social media. However, after doing some digging with @ParquetPress on our latest podcast, we discovered that the Lakers weren’t actually in Orlando yet when those meals were posted. Therefore they must have been at an airport or even just still at home.

The other end of the spectrum has guys like Troy Daniels and Chris Chiozza. Daniels posted a photo to his Instagram of his meal, and what looked like the pieces to a salad. It included an emoji which suggested he was less than pleased with the food, but to be honest it just looked like normal hotel food to me. Of course it may not be the fine dining and extravagance an NBA must get at their normal hotels, but it didn’t look like the end of the world. Daniels had all the components he needed to make a decent salad, and as @ParquetPress pointed out, the watermelon actually looked pretty appetizing.

Now I don’t necessarily have the same thoughts about the meal posted by Chris Chiozza of the Brooklyn Nets. He posted what looked to be chicken with sides of potatoes and a weird salad. He also has watermelon which looked okay, but the chicken looked a little weird. Maybe it was bad lighting or the picture didn’t do it justice, but it just looked a bit undercooked. Then Marvin Bagley posted his chicken, and that looked like it was just straight up pink. Now obviously the food will get better as the time goes on in the bubble, but it was not a great start from the team at Walt Disney World.

Despite these opinions, other players seemed to be very appreciative of the food they were given. Enes Kanter posted on his social media saying thank you to the staff and people at Disney World for his meal, and seemed very happy with his snack bag as well. He’s always seemed like a super nice guy to me, so it wasn’t a surprise to see him being super thankful.

Jayson Tatum even brought his own food to the bubble. He was seen eating the tacos he’s oh-so famous for, which can only mean that he packed them himself. His mom probably gave him specific instructions on how to heat it up once he arrived at his hotel.

Hopefully we get more updates on the food as the season progresses, because I can only assume that it will get better.
